Jacquelyn LaRusso
Jacki is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Washington, DC. Jacki specializes in treatment of eating disorders, self-harm, and trauma. She has experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care. In her practice, Jacki works from a foundation of attachment theory—with the premise that people thrive emotionally and physically when in healthy, connected relationships. She is also a Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned clinician and is informed by the growing fields of research in neuroplasticity and creativity in mental health.
Jacki is skilled in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and uses a trauma informed perspective of Psychodynamic therapy—understanding how our past impacts our present—as well as trauma tools such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) for healing flashbacks, unhelpful self-beliefs, and body memories. Jacki is passionate about education, supervision, and treatment on the intersection of severe and enduring eating disorders and attachment trauma and has created a niche in treating this specific population with effective outcomes.
Jacki is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). She has provided professional trainings on body image, eating disorders, and attachment to audiences including professionals, teachers and college students.
Jacki lives in Washington DC with her two children and dog. In her free time, Jacki likes hanging out with family and friends, listening to podcasts and audio books, and being outside on sunny days—especially when visiting where she grew up on the jersey shore beaches :)
